Basketball (by Co-Athletic Director, Mr. Gomes)

At St. Paul’s we believe that extracurricular activities, such as Athletics, support our academic, social, and spiritual goals. We hope that all eligible students will participate in programs that help them grow in their Discipleship, Character, and Engagement outside of the classroom. Mrs. Cacciapuoti, Co-Athletic Director, explains some of the benefits of Athletics here: Panther Athletics (by Co-Athletic Director, Mrs. Cacciapuoti).

Our next Athletics season is Basketball! On December 13 and 14 we will have our boys and girls basketball tryouts.  Tryouts are open to any students in grades 6-8 here at St. Paul’s.  Our Basketball season begins in January and we will be playing in the LOCAL League (Lutheran Orange County Athletic League).  In addition to league games, we will also participate in tournaments and our Varsity boys and girls teams will participate in the Lutheran Elementary School Tournament (LEST) which is hosted by Concordia University, Irvine. This tournament will include schools from several states and will be an exciting experience and challenge for our Varsity teams.

Basketball is an excellent sport to try and includes many physical, mental, and social benefits. Basketball fosters our goal of engagement by helping students develop confidence, practice focus and concentration, develop community and teamwork skills, and learn to effectively communicate with others. Basketball is a fun way to practice skills that help students to be successful in the classroom and other settings as well!

We are very excited for this season since we were not able to play last year due to COVID restrictions. Be sure to check the website for our game schedule and GO PANTHERS!!!
