Music Overview

St. Paul's Lutheran School has a fine tradition of bringing music education to its students.  Students from kindergarten through the 8th grade are exposed to the world of music with many different opportunities.
Our goal in general music is to build a strong musical awareness, aid in developing their academic success, and allow them to explore music in the future.

Kindergarten - 2nd Grades
Students have a general music class once a week, where they will learn about basic music, music history, and performance through singing. This early introduction of music in the student’s life will begin to help develop spatial and creative intelligences.

3rd, 4th & 5th Grades
Students meet once a week, where they have an added element to their music curriculum. The addition of recorders adds an instrumental level to their education which helps develop their hand-eye coordination, their motor-rhythmic skills, and helps to strengthen their artistic as well as mathematical development. Students will also learn about music theory, composition, and history. Students perform in is a Recorders Concert in May.

6th - 8th Grades
In middle school, students have the opportunity to choose guitar or praise band for one of their exploratory classes. Students may also participate in choral classes focusing on the Spring Musical and Advent.

Beyond the general music program, we offer the best in music education and an assortment of ensembles and opportunities to our students. We highly encourage our students to participate in ensembles such as Glee and the Band program.

SUMMER BAND CAMP

Every summer the St. Paul's Lutheran Youth Band Camp is held for students from 3rd grade to 8th Grade. During this camp, students learn how to march and play music.  They participate in 2 parades: Oceanside Independence Parade and Huntington Beach 4th of July Parade.
